Scientific Gear to Exhibit at Semicon West 2007

July 12, 2007. San Francisco, CA. Scientific Gear today announced that they will be an exhibitor at Semicon West 2007 at San Francisco’s Moscone Center. SEMICON West is the flagship annual event for the global microelectronics manufacturing industry. It is the premier showcase for technologies focused on the design and manufacture of micro- and nanoelectronics, including semiconductors, MEMS/microsystems and renewable energy applications. The exposition provides a vital forum to see and experience current and critical technology developments, exchange information, validate customer and supplier requirements, and demonstrate industry and technology leadership.

Scientific Gear will meet with industry representatives to provide information on a technology known as contact angle. Contact angle instruments allow users in the semiconductor industry to conduct surface analysis on semiconductor wafers and other nano materials in the semiconductor industry.

Contact angle is a process where a liquid drop is placed on a solid surface.  Using video and software these “contact angle instruments/analyzers” determine the angle of the droplet of water at the surface (where the surface, the liquid droplet, and the air intersect).  Many companies use this simple but effective technology for quality control purposes where they look for a repeatable measurement. During the wafer production process each layer (wafers are made by applying layer after layer of material until the final product is completed) can be checked to ensure quality and repeatability at each step.  Coatings are also important where the contact angle can verify coatings repeatability and cleanliness.

Scientificgear working with Surface Electro Optics (SEO) provide a range of instruments to meet most companies needs.  The unique and simple design incorporates the contact angle instrument with easy to use computer software for reporting and analysis.
