Automatic Titrator electrode maintenance
Electrode Maintenance Procedures for Automatic titrators (Potentiometric)
Potentiometric titration is a method to detect potential difference between an indicator electrode and a reference electrode. The automatic titrator will determine the concentration of a chemical component that is involved in the reaction and is contained in the first solution to which the reagent is added to create a potentially equilibrium state.
Selecting the appropriate indicator and reference electrode is important in obtaining the right reaction component involved in titration (with your automatic titrator) such as neutralization (or acid-base), precipitation, redox or chelatometric titration.
Because there are numerous combinations of electrodes that an operator might have on hand (maybe sitting around) we thought it would be helpful to provide information to help prolong the life of these electrodes with a short 10 page document that covers helpful topics including:
1. Features and use of the reference electrodes
2. Checkups
3. Cleaning and storage methods.
